Our Service Delivery Model
Solace and Sanctuary provides trauma-informed, client-centred counselling services grounded in safety, collaboration, and nervous system awareness. All services are delivered within the scope of professional counselling practice and do not constitute medical, psychiatric, or crisis services.
1. Trauma-Informed and Client-Centred Practice
We create a safe and empowering therapeutic environment that respects each individual’s pace, autonomy, and lived experience.
Our approach recognises the impact of trauma and is guided by the principles of:
-
Safety (emotional, physical, and relational)
-
Trustworthiness and transparency
-
Collaboration and shared decision-making
-
Empowerment, voice, and choice
-
Cultural sensitivity and respect
Clients are supported to move at a pace that feels safe and manageable.
2. Flexible Modalities
Participants may choose from a range of session formats, depending on their preferences and goals:
-
Room-based counselling (in-person)
-
Telehealth (video or phone)
-
Nature-based sessions
-
Animal-Assisted Therapy (including Equine-Assisted Therapy)
Services are tailored collaboratively to support individual goals, wellbeing, and nervous system regulation needs. Participation in outdoor or animal-assisted sessions is voluntary and requires informed consent.
Animal-assisted sessions are conducted in accordance with ethical animal welfare standards and established risk management procedures.
3. Relational and Somatic-Informed Approaches
Our work integrates relational, strengths-based, and nervous system-informed approaches.
Therapeutic strategies may include:
-
Somatic-informed approaches and nervous system regulation strategies (with ongoing professional development in Somatic Experiencing)
-
Mindfulness and grounding practices
-
Cognitive and interpersonal therapies
-
Narrative and strengths-based counselling
-
Psychoeducation to support trauma understanding and emotional resilience
All interventions are adapted to the client’s needs and delivered within professional counselling scope.
4. Partnership and Collaboration
Goal-setting and support planning are collaborative processes.
Where appropriate and with client consent, we may work alongside:
-
Family members or carers
-
Allied health professionals
-
Referring organisations (e.g., RSLs, Open Arms, GPs, NDIS Support Coordinators)
We value open communication and coordinated care where it supports client wellbeing.
5. Accessibility and Inclusivity
Services may be delivered in person, outdoors, or online to enhance accessibility.
We are committed to inclusive, respectful practice and operate in accordance with relevant anti-discrimination legislation.
We strive to make therapy accessible for women, veterans, carers, and neurodivergent individuals. Sensory-aware, calming environments are prioritised to support comfort and regulation.
6. Review and Service Quality
We are committed to transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.
This includes:
-
Regular review of progress toward agreed goals
-
Clear communication and transparent invoicing
-
Actively seeking client feedback to improve services
Solace and Sanctuary operates in alignment with the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) Code of Ethics and Practice and relevant state and federal legislation.
By booking a session, you acknowledge that counselling is a collaborative process, outcomes cannot be guaranteed, and you may withdraw consent at any time. Counselling services do not include diagnosis or medical treatment.
